Steelers at Falcons: Referee Brad Rogers

  • Home teams are 39-37 SU & 38-38 ATS in Rogers’ career
  • HOME teams were 13-4 SU & 11-6 ATS with Rogers in 2023, by far the most advantageous season for the home team in his career
  • Brad Rogers is 43-33 to the over in his career, fueled in large part by an unsustainable over run in the 2019/2020. Since the start of 2022 Roger’s numbers have changed significantly. Rogers is 20-13 (61%) to the UNDER the last two seasons (2022/2023)

  • Brad Rogers LED the NFL in offensive holding penalties per game in 2023
  • The Steelers have ranked among the top ten teams for offensive pass interference penalties since 2021. It’s not a high volume penalty, but extremely impactful when it’s called. If any crew is looking to call it, its Brad Rogers’ crew
  • The Steelers offensive line was responsible for only 18% of the team’s overall penalties in 2023, well below league average. The Steelers were a bottom five penalized team for offensive holding
  • The Falcons offensive line was responsible for only 23% of the team’s overall penalties with limited offensive holding penalties being a key factor in the low percentage
  • Brad Rogers has LED the NFL in offensive pass interference penalties the past two seasons (22/23)
  • Rogers has led all referees in fourth quarter penalties over the past three seasons, at 27.7% of his total penalty outpu
  • Brad Rogers’ crew has called the lowest percentage of their overall penalties on DEFENSIVE BACKS over the past three seasons
  • The Steelers defensive backs were responsible for 32% of the team’s penalties and 34% of total penalty yardage, both above NFL average
  • The Falcons defense was a top-10 penalized unit, ranking above average for both defensive holding and defensive pass interference. While it sounds negative, an overwhelming 76% occurred on less impactful first and second down plays. It’s worth noting, 2023 coordinator Ryan Neilson is now with Jacksonville. He ran an aggressive defensive style which is far different to what new head coach Raheem Morris did in LA
  • Rogers has called the fourth fewest overall percentage of penalties on linebackers over the past three seasons
  • Rogers’ crew called an above average percentage of their overall penalties on WR’s & TE’s in 2023
  • A below-average 39% of the Steelers penalties were committed by the offense. Limited penalties are essential for a risk-averse team like the Steelers to function at a competent level
  • The Steelers ranked 30th in pre-snap penalties per game, with those infractions accounting for just 30.5% of the team’s overall penalties. Only the Chargers and Rams were less penalized in this key category
  • A disproportionately high 20% of the Steelers’ overall penalties were via discipline-related infractions such as face mask and unsportsmanlike conduct. Brad Rogers’ crew will call these infractions, but generally at a lower than average rate compared to the rest of the NFL
