So – tell us how it went in camp?

It went great. It was a great opportunity. I’m new to playing receiver still – I was a quarterback for my first three years in college. Just being here trying out in the NFL…in the past three days the skills I’ve learned as a receiver…I’ve grown exponentially. It’s been so beneficial. An awesome experience learning from so many experienced people here in Pittsburgh.

First, let me know how it’s going there as you get to day three of practices?

It’s going well. Finished up two practices and have one more tomorrow. Collectively we’re getting better as a group of guys at each position which is good for the Steelers.

First – tell me how it went today?

I thought it went pretty good. I just came in for the workout. Ran routes and drills. There wasn’t any timetable for finding out if I will be asked to come back. They told me I was on the short list and they’ll give me a call if they need me.

First, how did day one go with the meetings? They kept you late!

Oh it went great. I’m happy to be here. I met with the coaches today – we went over the defensive plays, learning the playbook so we know what to do when we’re on the field tomorrow.  I can’t miss any assigments!

They said they’ll play me at cornerback. Im just going to go and fly around and show them what I can do. To be a well-conditioned athlete and chase the ball.

First, can you let us know what’s net in the process – camp starts tomorrow?

It’s going great. I just checked into the hotel room and went to the facility to get fitted for my helmet and equipment.

It’s been really awesome. I’ve been to one camp – to Cleveland. I am on the waiting list there – they’ll call if they need to bring me in but I grew up a Steelers fan so this is even better.

First, can you let us know what the next steps are for you – how are you handling the pre-camp craziness?

Yeah – first of all, I was a defensive lineman at Wake the last four years. I came in as a linebacker and wanted to play there but they needed me at defensive end. Now, I’m trying to transition back to linebacker and get the outside linebacker skills.

I dropped twenty pounds since my pro day. I dropped that weight. I’m transforming my body to start looking like a linebacker again. I’m giving it my best effort and taking advantage of the opportunity to show I can move like a linebacker.

First, let us know how it’s going – how are you handling the craziness of the moment?

Oh yeah, just to comment on the craziness. It’s been the craziest week of my life. On Thursday I was in Kalamazoo getting my graduation picture taken. Then I went to a graduation party Friday night, then back to Kalamazoo Saturday and got picked up by the Steelers Saturday night.

First – let us know how you are getting ready for camp!

I’m just here in Miami. I was in New York for the draft and came back to Miami. I’ve been working with my strength and conditioning coach, staying in shape for camp.

I’m actually on the field now. I’ve been focusing on my route running and blocking techniques.

First, can you let us know how it’s going -how are you keeping up with the craziness so far – what’s next for you?

Well, I got the invite for the Steelers mini-camp. I’ll leave next Thursday – it’s from the eleventh to the thirteenth.

Right now I’m preparing by running routes and working a lot on my technique. The same kind of stuff I’ve been working on for a while now.

First, can you let us know how it’s going -how are you keeping up with the craziness so far?

It definitely has been crazy. I watched the draft every round, and was nervous going into it. I was disappointed not getting drafted but I’m happy with the chance. I wish I heard my name called on draft day but I know hundreds that play in college never even get the chance to play at all in the NFL.

Why choose Pittsburgh ad an undrafted free agent?

It is a great organization. The Pittsburgh fans are diehard fans. I played for Villanova – in Philly – and saw it isn’t a bad state to live in! I mean, it’s not Florida, but still… I also played in Pittsburgh my Junior year and liked the field. It’s a grass field and I like playing on grass – I play faster on grass.
