While my time with the Steelers was brief, it was a dream come true.
As I sit down to write this, I realize it was 46 years ago today that it all really got started. December 23, 1972, was the day I fell in love with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
My family moved to Pittsburgh in the summer of 1971. My dad, Gerald, worked for PPG. He was an accountant at their plant in Lake Charles, LA before being transferred to HQ in Pittsburgh.
In September of 1971, I was a 5th grader at Eisenhower Elementary School at the corner or Warwick and Ft. Couch Road in Upper St. Clair. Across the street was the home where Chuck Noll lived. Strong safety Mike Wagner’s home was just down the street. Steeler territory.
