First of all, what brought you to the USFL – why did you choose to play in the league?

In actually tried out for the IFL too – I heard of the USFL and did my application  – I did it twice actually because I got not feedback from them until the week before the draft. I felt like I had no chance though to get drafted. But now I’m here.

Did you talk to the staff about your role there yet? I know you were a playmaker at corner at Tarleton but also played receiver before – and were a standout return man on special teams.

I had a brief conversation with them. They said they loved my film – that I stood out a lot on film. I think any ballhawk skills stood out to them – how aggressive I played. I think that stood out the most and that they think that can be a big help for the team.

Know any of the current roster guys?

No sir. Most seem to be Big D1 guys – there are few of us DII guys there.

Knowing the versatility you bring, what do you think you can contribute to the Maulers?

When I introduce myself I always say “Athlete.” I can play on both sides of the ball and on special teams. I think I stand apart from other guys because I can do everything – I can do it all.

What traits make you most effective as a player?

I stay calm. I don’t let things get to me – even if I’m beat for a 50-yard pass. I just stay calm for the next play. And I’m fast – my speed helps me a lot – especially in the punt and kickoff return and coverage games.

I think special teams will be a big thing for me. I had a lot of success on special teams in college – I’m excited to show what I can do there.

Anyone really help mentor you to help get you to this point?

It got really tough – when I left Canada after trying there I got very discouraged. A lot of people walked out on me. I talked to my brother Bennie Nolley – he’s a firefighter – and he kept pushing me. He checked up on me and made sure I was still doing what I needed to do to play football. He kept pushing me to stuck with it.

What if anything stands out to you as an area where if you improve you can really help your chances to play?

I think just being more active and vocal with my teammates. I’m not a hype guy. I should be better at talking with my teammates – it’d make me more confident and more in synch with them if I did.

Just a quiet guy?

I am a quiet person. I don’t say much – I’m not being rude or anything, it’s just who I am.

What does success look like for you this season?

Me smiling and being happy with a big ring on my finger – to win for my family. I just had a son last year and have two brothers. I’m from Houston though I’m living in Dallas now, working different jobs here. I just want to win for my family.

Any thoughts on where you want to take any success you have after the season?

Right now I’m just focused on the moment. You always plan for bigger things but right now I just want to come in and win a job. I haven’t played a down even yet so I just want to focus on now.
